2023 will bring more changes to the annual Loaves and Fishes project. For many years, UUCWC has partnered with the Princeton Congregation to provide a hot meal to the hungry in Trenton on one Saturday a year. Loaves and Fishes was begun because charitable organizations did not serve meals over the weekend.
Fortunately, these organizations like the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) are now serving Saturday meals. This means that there are fewer guests to serve. The meals are still needed but the quantity and timing have changed. This means that we still need help but volunteer opportunities are limited
Another fortunate change for 2023 is that UUCWC’s Food Ministry team will be working with Social Action to make the meals. We hope that this partnership continues in the future. The Food Ministry team will bake 200 chicken thighs and deliver them hot to St Mary’s Cathedral to be served to the guests.
