Change the World This Month at UUCWC
Each month, UUCWC celebrates a theme with opportunities for you to deepen your connection within, among and beyond our community.
The theme for this month is “Embracing Possibility”
Here are some invitations to become a part of something larger this month:
It’s all about Changing the World this month!
- Sunday, April 26, 11 am, Stream Science Education Event: Come join the Earth and Climate Ministry along with the Watershed Institute in the lobby for a fun, educational event assessing the health of our neighboring Jacob’s Creek. Davis Bush will educate both adults and kids on common ways stream get polluted and there will be a hands-on water testing exercise exploring both chemical and biological, living and non-living components.
- Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, April 19: The next food drive sponsored by the Food Ministry will be to benefit the Hopewell Valley Mobile Food Pantry. HVMFP provides groceries and fresh produce to over 200 neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Please consider bringing any of the following items with you to church on Sundays April 12th and 19th. We can’t accept glass jars or items past their expiration date. Thank you for your support of our community food pantry!
- Donations Needed:
- Personal care items (such as toilet paper, soap, skin lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes)
- Shelf-stable milk (such as Parmalat)
- Low sodium soup
- Flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda
- Cooking oils
- Mayonnaise
- Salad dressing
- Spices
- Healthy snacks and treats (such as trail mix and nuts)
- Whole grain cereals and oatmeal
- Peanut butter
- Low sodium canned chicken
- Canned fruit in juice (not syrup)
- Donations Needed:
- UUCWC Book Discussion – NJ Reparations Council Report, April 16th at 7pm (in person or online) Join us for an in-depth discussion of this critical report. Use this link to access the report. This is a long-term project – come discuss our potential contribution as individuals and as a faith community in the journey. PA residents are encouraged to attend and learn how your state can also move forward with this work. See weekly for details on how to register.
- April 26: Watershed Institute, after the service, the Watershed Institute will visit UUCWC to monitor our water quality and take biological samples.
- Weekly Protest in Hopewell Borough: Every Thursday, 5:30-6:30pm, corner of Greenwood Ave and Broad St. UUCWC members are there every week!
