by Dan Tuft, Co-Chair, Racial Justice Initiative
The Racial Justice Initiative continues to provide you opportunities to engage, act, study and reflect on issues related to racial justice both within UUCWC and in the surrounding communities in which we live. As we endeavor to live our UU principles regarding equality and justice, remember to encourage each other in the effort to run this marathon. Thank you for your participation. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Dan Tuft or Nathalie Edmond at racialjustice@uucwc.org.

Friday Night Film—Begin the evening with pizza at 6:30pm on September 29 and then we will view Fruitvale Station, a powerful film on the last 24 hours of the life of Oscar Grant III before he is shot in the back by a BART police officer while lying face down on a subway platform in Oakland, CA. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can plan for food and child care accordingly at racialjustice@uucwc.org.
The first meeting of the praxis group is September 24 at 12:30pm after church. We are embarking on a self-assessment in this year long process to choose areas where we can grow in living our racial justice principles. So far we have a wide range of people who have committed to this process. Interested? Let Nathalie or Dan know.
What to watch for in the coming months? We are in the beginning stages of connecting with a racial justice group in the Episcopal church in Trenton….we are in the process of lining up future speakers and possible panel discussions on racial justice and the criminal justice system…Thanks for your continued commitment!
