Message From Rev. Sue about COVID-19

Dear Members and Friends of UUCWC,

The health of each member of our congregation is of central importance to us at UUCWC. Please: Don’t work sick, don’t school sick, don’t church sick. If you are sick, please stay home. We know that the COVID-19 virus is most dangerous to our elders and to folks with compromised lungs or immune systems. We want you to take care of yourself if you are ill, and also take care of others by curtailing the spread of this virus.

Please reach out to me at conglife@uucwc.org if you are sick. We don’t want anyone isolated or lonely. While we may not choose to socialize with sick folks, we will bring you some soup or other goodies with help from our Caring Committee!

Everyone needs to practice safe health procedures which boils down to WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN AND DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE. Use wipes on often-used surfaces, such as door knobs, phones and railings. Avoid shaking hands; for the time being, the receiving line after services will be suspended. If you need to cough, cough into your elbow. Masks are for when you are sick; a mask will not keep you from getting sick.

If you recently traveled to a country or state with a high-level outbreak, please consider a self – quarantine until the danger of infection has passed. People without symptoms can pass along the virus.

Let me know if you are having trouble getting food or medical supplies. If you are feeling anxious about the virus you are not alone. We are here to support one another spiritually and emotionally so do not hesitate to reach out.

Below are links for more information about staying healthy. When we stay informed and know the facts we feel more in control:

Our resilient community is strong. Do not dwell unnecessarily on fears of this virus. Preparation and safety precautions will keep us as healthy as possible.

Warmly,
Rev. Sue
