It is so sad that everything we read these days begins the word “coronavirus.” This article is no different. The pandemic has changed our UUCWC world in many ways, but we have to carry on and prepare for when we are able to be together again.
The role of the Nominating Committee is actually two part. The first, as I said last month, is to meet with and get to know you, our UUCWC Members, to learn what energizes you, how you are most comfortable working with others and if you can spare time for regular committee involvement or would prefer “one-offs,” i.e. targeted tasks that are not ongoing. If you have served in the past we would also like to hear about your experiences and insights.
Secondly, and most importantly, the Nominating Committee is charged with the task of putting forward names to be voted into leadership roles by the Congregation at the Annual Meeting. Whether the June 7 Annual Meeting takes place in our beautiful Sanctuary or via Zoom, we will be voting on new leaders for the 2020-2021 Church year. There are openings on the Board of Trustees, the Nominating Committee and Endowment. Denominational Affairs also needs a new Chair.
Obviously, our usual convenient interviews which took place at fixed times around Sunday services can not currently happen as before. We are now meeting with individuals via Zoom on first and third Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons by appointment. The conversations will last no more than 20 minutes.
If you would like to reach out and spend a little time sharing information about your own passions and learning about our church leadership please email nominating@uucwc.org. We are also reaching out to many of you via my memorypeg@gmail account. If you receive an email it is because Reverend Kim or other leaders suggested we reach out to you.
We’re looking forward to meeting you in this new way!
