Award Season Is Here…and not just in Hollywood!
By Patrick Kahney, UUCWC Board of Trustees
As you’ve probably noticed, we are a very active community that puts a lot of time and energy into fulfilling our mission to give voice to societal concerns and reach out to touch the lives of others. This aspirational goal cannot be met without meaningful contributions from our congregation. In order to recognize the exceptional efforts of our membership, we will be recognizing individuals this spring with the following awards. We need your nominations so that these individual contributions can be acknowledged and celebrated within our community.
The UUCWC Distinguished Service Award recognizes exemplary effort by a member leading to significant contribution to UUCWC’s mission. The Flaming Chalice Award recognizes an individual who both epitomizes the values and principles of Unitarian Universalism and has provided sustained contributions to the accomplishment of our mission.
Everything you might need to review before you submit your nomination is available on our wonderful UUCWC website under the “Governance” section in the aptly named “Service Awards” subtitle. You can even submit your nominations right through that page!
All nominations are due by April 1, in order to provide the committee with enough time to review all nominees. The Distinguished Service Award can be won multiple times for different contributions, and youth members are eligible. There is not a length of membership criteria for this award. The Flaming Chalice Award is for members that have been a part of UUCWC for at least seven years.
If you have someone in mind, please nominate them as soon as you can, we have already seen a few nominations flowing in through the website!
