Providing food related assistance to our community is our mission. How the Food Ministry completes this mission is the challenge. The past ten months have proved to be trying times for everyone. Your Food Ministry is no exception.
The Challenge
Without access to our church and unable to use the kitchen to provide the usual hot meals, we have adapted. We have donned our masks, set distance standards and assembled meal bags outside, determined to continue to fulfill our mission of providing food related assistance to our community.
The Result
The UUCWC Food Ministry has been able to provide over 900 nutritious meal bags (shelf stable entrees, fruit cups, oatmeal packets and granola bars) for the low income seniors of Luther Arms in Trenton. We have also donated funds to the HomeFront Thanksgiving food basket drive and the Hamilton Food Drive (John O. Wilson Neighborhood Center).
In addition, The Roland Rahn Memorial Fund has provided thousands of dollars in financial donations to many organizations in this pandemic period. The memorial fund donated financial assistance to:
El Centro; HomeFront; the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK); two churches that sponsor an ESL program, St. James AME Church and the Living Water Pentecostal Church, to assist their community with food related assistance; HomeFront in care of Chris Marchetti and the Joy, Hopes & Dreams program to assist in providing meals for the children of the pop up camps for the children housed at local hotels; the Trenton Rescue of Trenton; and Fisherman’s Mark of Lambertville.
We would like express our sincere appreciation to all that have donated to our efforts. Please continue to help with your generous financial support to ensure that your Food Ministry will continue to have a positive impact on our community.
